MURANI
Piano
Spanish pianist / composer.
He starts studying at the Murcia Conservatoire, then he obtains a scholarship
to go and study in Russia. He spends one year at the Tchaikowsky Conservatoire,
and 6 years at the Gnessin Institute where he obtains the Red Prize in 1993.
This distinction means the highest mark in all the subjects of the Institute.
That particular prize had not been granted for the 4 previous years, and had
never been granted to anybody who would not be Russian. He has more than 250
pieces in his repertoire, ready to be played.
REVIEWS
SPANISH FIRE. The Spanish Juan Miguel Murani has been the
guest of the Chopin Gesellschaft.
“The Spanish pianist Juan Miguel Murani was in his element
playing music from his land. One would have expected to see a flamenco dancer
full of passion and character dance while Murani played for the Chopin
Gesellschaft of Darmstadt, where he had been invited. The program was extremely
demanding, including works like Sevilla and Almería by Albéniz and Fantasía
Bética by Manuel de Falla. Virtuosity of technique, amazing sensibility,
temperament, and sense of rhythm are the characteristics of his interpretation,
pointing his finger with Falla towards the future and modernity.”
Darmstadt Echo. Klaus Trapp –
Monday, December 8, 2003.
“A Tribute to Ricardo Viñes:… A century later, these works
come back to life under the fingers of Juan Miguel Murani …This musician, whose
name is enough to indicate his nationality, has literally captivated us …There
cannot be the slightless doubt that one day the music historians will pay a much
talked-about tribute to this brilliant performer. Thanks to an extraordinary
feat, the performer seems to be openly improvising when there is such a complex
score that would spoil the expressiveness of even the best musician. “My most
profound admiration, Mr. Murani!”
